Responsibilities
Depending on their level of experience and training, interns in the Global Compact Office
will:
• research and analyze relating to the topic of corporate citizenship, especially on human
rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption;
• draft and edit publications, papers and other documents;
• liaise with Global Compact stakeholders on key corporate citizenship topics;
• support the organization of meetings and events;
• assist with outreach activities;
• assist in the coordination of the Communication on Progress process;
• handle email and other inquiries;
• assist in the implementation of the Global Compact's integrity measures;
• perform administrative tasks as assigned.

Education
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school
(second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries
where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages,
have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent
institution towards the completion of a degree. Be computer literate in standard
software applications; have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United
Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have
demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural
backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be
tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the
programme.

Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of French is desirable.
Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage

Ideal candidates will be available full-time from the beginning of June to the end of
August 2013.
According to UN policy, internships can be for a minimum of 2 months. However,
the Global Compact
recommends an initial duration of 3 months, with a possibility of extension.

a maximum of 6 months.
